Behind every CV and job application is a person hoping to be seen.
Perhaps you’ve had a similar experience …applying for job after job, sending your CV out with care and hope, only to be met with silence. No acknowledgment. No feedback. Nothing.
I’ve been hearing this same story from friends and peers for months. The job market feels flat, energy is low, and for many, hope is starting to fade.
It’s not just the lack of opportunities, it’s the silence that follows. Applications disappear into what feels like an abyss.
Of course, I understand the pressures on employers and recruiters — targets to hit, projects to deliver, inboxes overflowing.
Everyone’s chasing the “perfect fit.” But how we treat people when they aren’t the right fit says more about our culture than how we treat those we hire.
That silence takes a toll. It chips away at confidence and self-worth, and it’s not just candidates who lose out, it also impacts trust and reputation.
Behind every CV is a person – hopeful, skilled, and trying their best in uncertain times. A short note or simple acknowledgment doesn’t take long, but it means everything.
We might not be able to change the whole system overnight, but we can change how we show up within it. Because being seen shouldn’t depend on getting the job.
