Health is Wealth

It’s often remarked that our health is our greatest wealth, and I agree. Good health is a luxury which we only really understand the value of once we have had it and lost it.

We take our health for granted until we’re broken or in pain. We try to undo years of unhealthy habits often when it’s too little too late because we put other priorities ahead of our health.

Our health should be our most important priority however our society places importance on different things -money, possessions, status. We strive to earn more money to have the lifestyle we think will make us happy.

Yet the irony is that we end up spending our health to gain our wealth and then having to spend the wealth to regain our health. Mad isn’t it?

We may spend money on all sorts of things but investing in our health can pay dividends down the road.

Even if we have excellent health insurance, there is still money involved with being ill.

A healthy life is the highest blessing which we must not take for granted. As Gandhi once said, “It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver.”

What he was saying was that health is truly the foundation for a good life, no matter how much money we have. Once we discover that, we’ll have a much more fulfilling life.
